Ed was a WWII submarine veteran who at the end of the war enrolled for course work at the Chicago School of Watchmaking in Chicago, IL. When he was finished with his apprenticeship Ed stopped in his hometown of Cannon Falls to visit with with friends and family on his way out to Leeds, SD to check out a retail store that was for sale. Ed ran into a local banker by the name of D. Faye Case. After catching up with each other Mr. Case offered to loan Ed money to start a shop in Cannon Falls, MN.
